Malaiya Ilene Liwag, MA, LAC, CTP

Malaiya Ilene is a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) with a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She is dedicated to providing an all-inclusive, safe space for clients to explore and express themselves freely. She hopes to support their journey toward a happier and more fulfilling life. She is trained in working with traumas, depression, anxiety, attachment, and life transitions with a special interest in relational traumas. She serves all populations and is especially keen on working with teens and adults. In addition to her studies, she has provided mental health services to children in the village of Seine Bight, Belize with a multicultural team.

Her therapeutic approaches include person-centered, narrative, and mindfulness therapies. Through a collaborative effort between client and counselor, she strives to help clients gain the necessary tools toward greater self-awareness, understanding, and overall healing.

She is a Certified Trauma Professional (CTP) and is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Play Therapy, and Expressive Arts Therapy to provide resources to meet the needs of each individual, unique client. She understands the difficulties and challenges that personal growth and healing may bring. She believes that counseling is not a one-size-fits-all approach and that because each journey is unique, one’s healing process will be too.

Malaiya Ilene provides services out of the Gilbert office, which is close to Queen Creek, Mesa, Tempe, and Chandler
